Symbolic Celtic Cross

This great esoteric symbol in stone was an instrument of measurement. In it's carvings are the symbols of what it measured and what the measurements meant. It is a representation of an ancient instrument of wisdom, astronomy, surveying and navigation older than written or recorded history.

The unsung heroes who preserved the principles for us in stone that would last, tried to portray in the carvings all the symbols of life and death, the nature of Time and Man's place within the cosmos.

They left it for those in future generations who had eyes to see their messages of wisdom about the cyclical forces of order and chaos, negative and positive, darkness and light.

Their world view is alien to the modern mind

An explanation of what our ancestors could do with the stars may help to alter the misconceptions and confusions that is the result of misunderstood ancient history and religion. .

The Plumbline and scale

This is the simple technique for measuring inclinations, angles and levels.

Our ancestors only needed a plumbline and a measuring scale to achieve the accurate designs of henges and pyramids so as to align them to the stars.

But with this instrument they could create zodiacs and measure the angles in between the stars, thus determining distance.

It is a simple matter then to determine speed of the movement of a star across the sky.

When they could achieve that, it was a simple step to measure time which resulted in mathematics and a system of recording using symbols.

But this instrument is not good enough, because it only measures angles in one linear direction.

The instrument seen as the Celtic cross measures full multi dimensional spherical geometry.

Since wheels have been around Archaeologically for over 5000 years, it would seem a logical progression to use the full wheel to measure anything that they wanted to.

The problem is that this technique has been overlooked because of dogma.

The Working Celtic Cross

The prototype instrument constructed by Crichton E M Miller in 1998 measuring the angle of the rising sun.

This version of a working Celtic Cross works as a mariners instrument.

The wheel rotates on an axle and is weighted at the bottom so that 0 degrees always points to the earth's centre through the constant effects of gravitational pull, in the same way as a plumbline and bob would do.

Since the wheel is a model of the planet didvided into degrees of arc, any angle is read directly from the scale and allows the immediate calculation of latitude.

This attribute allows the pre construction surveying of buildings, cartography , and the measurent of stars and planets for astronomy

But its greatest attribute is to measure the forgotten zodiac, the wheel of time and observe the ruthless recurring cycles of destruction and rebirth.

It was only by observing the sky that our ancestors understood the nature of Time resulting in a philosophy for life designed for survival of our species.

The Ancient Serpent Clock

This Classical Greek Zodiac shows the Serpent of ancient myth at its heart as it wheels around the north celestial pole at the same speed as the earth spins.

The Serpent or Dragon has long been the symbol of wisdom all over the world, from the Egyptians, Chinese Greeks, Maya, Celts and the Vikings.

Directly behind its head in the first coil is the position of the sun in the solar system (The Ecliptic Pole), It is from this system and an instrument with which to measure its movements accurately that the ancients produced their knowledge of the cycles of Time and the concepts of good and evil,order and chaos.
